Birthday Parties, Eclipse, and Other Pictures

Dassah has a cute sense of style; sunglasses and a hood (or hat as she insists on calling it)

Dassah's friend Seth lives right beside the park.  When we go to the park, Dassah asks, "Seth play?" So we'll go next door and invite Seth to come out.
"You stay on your side of the line, and I'll stay on mine."

Wheeee!!!

Playing with dish soap

We invited Seth over to our house to play on our swings and slide.

"Mom, he's sitting on my swing..."

Playing  "Ring Around the Rosie"

A baby bump for anyone interested!  I am almost 20 weeks (halfway) in this photo.

May 20th, there was a solar eclipse.  Mike went out and took several pictures.  Here Dassah is "helping".

Upset because Daddy put her down so he could adjust his camera.

Daddy is so much fun!

When the sun got too low to see from the house, we jumped in the car and headed up the hill so we could catch the eclipse's peak.  Notice he has two pairs of sunglasses and two filters on his camera...

A reflection of Mike's camera in the window of the car.  You can see the eclipse through the view finder.

While Daddy took pictures, Dassah and I mostly hung out in the car.  It was windy on top of the hill.

Another picture of Mike with Dassah in the window of the car.
This was a cool picture that Mike caught.  The crescent shape on the lower right is actually a lens flare, a mirror image of the actual eclipse.
One of the first pictures Mike took of the eclipse

A picture close to the peak of the eclipse.  To have seen the full eclipse, we would have had to have been in New Mexico.

The weekend before Dassah's birthday, Becky and Brandon and their kids came up to celebrate Dassah and Isaiah's birthday's together.  Also here were Aunt Liz and Mama Lynn and Papa Steve.  This was the first of three birthday parties Dassah had this year.

Each kid received a cupcake to decorate while Mama Lynn put icing on the rest.  The three youngest just dove right in without bothering about decorating.

The birthday boy is turning 3!

The birthday girl is turning 2!

Intently watching Noah who is sitting across the table from her.

I crocheted this dragon hat for Isaiah.

Opening presents!

Aunt Liz is so much fun!

I like Brandon's expression here as he's keeping Noah from climbing on the back of the couch.

Inspecting the embroidery on Dassah's new dress.

Checking out all her presents that I have on my lap.

Playing on the swings.

Dassah's wearing the dragon hat!

Belly comparison picture!  Becky and I are only 3-5 days apart in our pregnancies.

Dassah's second birthday party happened on Memorial Day.  Another little boy in town is just a week older than her, so we mommies decided to get together with several other families in town and just have a fun time.

Dassah and Seth, the birthday boy.

The pool was a big hit.

Another birthday cupcake.  Dassah didn't even taste anything with sugar this party, all she ate was pretzels.

In another friend's wagon

The merry-go-round was popular, too.

An interesting expression

Back in the pool

More friends in the pool!

Water basketball with two referees.
"Okay, Mommy, I'm cold now."

We forgot to bring a towel, so Mommy's sweater worked instead.

Crawling on the cement with her friend Isaac

"This ride isn't going very far, or very fast..."

This bear is almost as big as Dassah!

I put Dassah's hair up in pigtails.  Then she found another hairband and insisted on a tail in the middle.

Helping Mommy make a birthday cake by licking out the bowl.

The third birthday party in a week, just Daddy, Mommy, and Dassah.  She's a big 2 year old now!

The birthday cake

A thoughtful expression.  "Is ice cream yummy?"  "Mmm-hmm."

And another cupcake.  She licked the icing off and left the rest.
Opening presents!

It's a little swimming pool.  She wasn't very interested in it at this point.  She was more interested in the cats on the wrapping paper.

"I ripped it!"

What's in this box?

Look at that big grin at finding a dolly!

Dassah loves her new dolly.

Daddy couldn't resist blowing up the new pool.  Dassah immediately had to jump in.

Balloons in the pool and static filled hair.

She held up several balloons this way like she was trying to see the world in a different color.

Trying out her new pool.

"Yay!" So excited.  She's clapping her hands.

This little toy is so much fun, too.

Dassah's saying, "Mommy, poop!" We had to go inside to make a poop.  Dassah is pretty much daytime potty trained now.

This is what the sky looked like when we went in to poop.  Needless to say, we didn't come back out to play.

Pretty Girl!

I can't believe how big Dassah is getting!  She will be two in just a couple weeks!

She is so smart.  She often counts to us, "one, two, free," or "six, seben, eight, nine".  She is continually talking to us and frequently repeats everything we say.
First thing in the morning, eating cornbread for breakfast.

Dassah loves to swing on her swing!

There is a train car in the park, and Dassah enjoys climbing the stairs on it.

Close up

Playing with friends in the Dining Hall

Another close up with a sweet smile

"Whee!!! I can do this myself!"

Dassah's becoming quite the reader.  She will frequently pick up a book and read it to herself.

Another picture of her reading.

Helping Mommy make muffins for breakfast.  Dassah likes "nuffims".

We took Dassah's car outside.  She decided it was too difficult to drive on the grass.

A bee.  This day had lots of bees and butterflies on our dandelions.

Dassah, a bee, and a butterfly all in one picture.

Dassah put on her dress all by herself on this day.  Here, she's pretending to be a mountain climber.

"I love my daddy, and my kitty."

Balancing on the bear

"Quick, Mike, grab the camera before she pulls her pigtails out!"

Wild hair day.  A combination of sunscreen and static from the slide.

Playing on the merry-go-round with a friend's ball.

Playing with soap bubbles at the park with a few friends.

Cute little sweethearts.  These two are only a week apart in age.

Pretending to go "night-night" on the trampoline.

The reason I had so many close ups at the start of the post.  Dassah's left eye is half blue, half another color.  I think it's cute.  Can you see it?
