Missing Daddy

Michael is down in Wichita Falls, TX for some training with the Air Force, and Hadassah and I are still up here in Wyoming. The other day, I left my computer open while I went to the kitchen to fix some dinner when suddenly I heard Mike's voice. Dassah had started banging on the keyboard and somehow opened up the folder where I keep the pictures and videos for the blog. She had started a video that had Daddy talking. She's such a smart little girl.

Wearing Mommy's headband.

Talking to Daddy on Skype.

Messy hairdo after a nap

Brushing her hair

"I know this door opens somehow."

"Let's watch this movie."

Dassah has discovered she can make the chair rock. She stood here just rocking it for at least 2 minutes.

Busy Days

The past few weeks have been very busy in the Huntington house. One weekend, Daddy and Mommy decided to paint the living room. Mommy chose the wall color to match the curtains, but when the first stripe of paint was first put on the wall, Mommy and Daddy both almost had second thoughts. Now that it's done though, they both think it looks nice.

Hadassah makes sure she spends time every day giving attention to Rista. Rista probably thinks it's torture.

"Yes, Mommy, I just emptied the diaper bag."

Look at that face!

Each day, we take time to read some books.

If the weather is nice, we will go outside and enjoy the sunshine. Dassah liked all the dandelions.

The next weekend, Daddy and Mommy cut down two dead trees in our yard. Daddy's birthday present was the chainsaw he bought for the job.

This is two pictures put together, but it shows the tree Daddy cut down in the front yard.

Dassah got to cheer Daddy on while he cut the trees. The pack 'n play moved all over the yard, depending on where Daddy was working and where the shade was.

The second tree Daddy cut down.

Even with how busy we are, we have to stop for a rest every so often.

That way we can wake up bright-eyed and ready to continue.

Eating is also important. Sometimes, more than one spoon is necessary.

Playing is good too, when you've been busy. "Stir, stir, stir the blanket..."

Yesterday was Daddy's birthday. Since Dassah's birthday is in just a few weeks, we decided to celebrate them together since Daddy will be leaving soon and will miss her actual birthday.

Hadassah likes the birthday card she received from Gramama and Grampa and everyone.

The birthday boy and the the birthday girl.

Daddy's birthday cake: a lemon cheesecake. This is the very first cheesecake Mommy ever made.

Birthday dinner. Daddy wanted lasagna so Mommy made some, along with some homemade bread.

Dassah's birthday "cake": an apple muffin. Hadassah is turning 1!

Eating her muffin.

"Daddy, you can help eat my muffin."

Birthday presents! (Yes it's Christmas paper. No, I don't care.)

Wow! This is neat!

All of Dassah's presents: a bike seat, helmet, and a peek-a-boo toy.

Dassah likes the peek-a-boo toy.

We have to try on the helmet to make sure it fits.

"I don't think it fits you very well, Daddy."

"Look at me!"

"My new hat is so cool!"

"This is the best birthday I've ever had!"

Today, we had to try out the new bike seat. We put the seat on Mommy's bike.

Biking with Mommy.

Daddy took over for Mommy to bike up a hill. He discovered how much more work it is to bike with the baby seat.

What do you do when your skirt just keeps getting in the way? Crawl on your tip toes, of course!

We let Dassah see what she looked like in her new helmet. She got so excited. Just ignore all the fingerprints on the mirror.

Just about ready to go on our ride.
