Rista Cat

Here's our cat Rista. She's about three years old. She's a fat furball. We've nicknamed her Sqeaky because she has a high-pitched meow that sounds like she's squeaking.
Her favorite game is chase the string. (She even has a favorite string!) When we get up in the morning, or when we come home from work, she meets us at the door, meowing and squeaking. It's not that she's lonely, its that she wants us to play chase the string with her.

We were looking in a cat book one time and saw a cat that looked almost just like her, so we've decided her breed is a cream-point Birman.

Snow!

Snow! It's what you think of when you think Alaska. Here's our porch railing with about ten inches of snow on it. We woke up yesterday and saw seven fresh inches. Of course, that means we have to shovel the walks at work.

Yes, our Christmas lights are still up. It's too difficult to try to take them down in the winter. The snow we've been pushing off the porch so far is over knee deep, and plus it's just SO cold. Around Christmas time, it's also not very light outside after work is over to SEE anything if we did want to try to take them down. It is getting lighter, though. The sunset actually lasted until I got off work today.

Pretty Alaska

I thought you might like to see some pictures of Alaska, some of the sights we see around here. I don't have any pictures yet of all the snow we have (7 fresh inches just today) but here are some of the other things we can see. The mountain is Mount Hayes.
Beautiful northern lights, the aurora borealis.
These are ice pillars. At about -20, we get ice fog and the ice pillars are created by lights reflecting straight up into the air. The smoke is from the local oil refinery.

Just Starting

Hey, we finally decided to start a blog. We thought we were getting left out since the rest of my sisters have one. We will be regularly updating this on an infrequent basis. Oh, and just so you know, there is only two kinds of frogs native to Alaska, and one kind is me and Michael.
